Sin­cere sym­pa­thy is ex­tended to the fam­ily and rel­a­tives of Mar­garet Whe­lan née Doyle, Coolat­tin Road, Carnew, who died re­cently and was buried on Mon­day in To­ma­cork Ceme­tery.

To the fam­ily and rel­a­tives of Canon To­bias Kin­sella, Oly­gate and for­merly of Um­ri­gar, who died dur­ing the week and was buried on Mon­day in To­ma­cork Ceme­tery.


The an­nual pa­trons in Carnew and To­ma­cork will take place on Sun­day, July 21, in Carnew at 1.15 p.m. and To­ma­cork at 2 p.m. fol­lowed by the an­nual field day. All do­na­tions welcome for the cake stall, bric-à-brac and bot­tle stall. Please do not dis­pose of any rub­bish or dead flow­ers in the grave yard or ad­join­ing prop­er­ties.


Happy 50th birth­day to Sarah Be­han, Shil­le­lagh.

The fol­low­ing are the walks for the next two weeks for Tinahely walk­ing club. July 21: Croghan­moira. Level B, 12km, 3.5 hours. Meet Tinahely 10 a.m. or Drum­goff 10.30 a.m. July 28: Tara Hill. Level B-, 12km, 3.5 hours. Meet Tinahely 9.45 a.m. or Tara Hill Church car park 10.30 a.m. As usual, please re­mem­ber to wear proper walk­ing boots, pack full rain gear and bring ad­e­quate food and drink. The Carnew and Dis­trict Agri­cul­tural show will be held on Satur­day, July 20, in Um­ri­gar. Ad­mis­sion: €5; chil­dren free. Judg­ing starts at 11 a.m. Dog show: 2 p.m. Ac­tiv­i­ties: bouncy cas­tle and slide, ferry wagon, chil­dren’s talent com­pe­ti­tions, pho­tog­ra­phy, arts and crafts, flow­ers, pony club games, car­riage driv­ing, judg­ing horse and pony classes, sheep. 11 a.m. start. Come and have a good day out.


Pets Cor­ner at Tinahely Agri­cul­tural Show 2019. All man­ner of pets can be en­tered, from farm an­i­mals to house­hold pets. There are five cat­e­gories, in­clud­ing the new­est and most un­usual pet. So if you have some­thing a lit­tle bit dif­fer­ent, come and show all the other pet lovers your spe­cial friend. Peo­ple of all ages are en­cour­aged to display their pre­cious pets in this an­nual event. It’s only €3 to en­ter each cage, with the chance to win great prizes. Come join an ex­cit­ing sum­mer camp at Carnew Na­tional School from July 29 to Au­gust 2 for chil­dren aged 4-12. Times: 9.30 a.m. to mid­day (Art Camp); mid­day to 1 p.m. (Ac­tiv­ity Camp). Art in the morn­ing (tile paint­ing, clay houses, draw­ing, pup­pets and much more) Ac­tiv­ity camp in the af­ter­noon (In­tro­duc­tion to Tae-Kwon-Do, cir­cuit train­ing and lots more).
