Ark­low’s Karen meets Prince Ed­ward

An Ark­low woman re­cently met with a se­nior mem­ber of the Royal Fam­ily at an event in Scot­land.

Karen O’Neill, who is the daugh­ter of Danny and Roisin O’Neill and orig­i­nally from Abbey­lands, was in­tro­duced to Prince Ed­ward along­side some of her col­leagues at an event held as part of the In­clu­sive Skat­ing Par­a­lympic In­ter­na­tional and Scot­tish Cham­pi­onships at Mur­ray­field Ice Rink on July 4.

She met the prince be­cause she was in­volved in in­tro­duc­ing a new Learn to Skate In­clu­sive ini­tia­tive across 14 ice rinks in the United King­dom. Karen is also host­ing a na­tional Artis­tic Skat­ing Event that en­cour­ages peo­ple with spe­cial needs and or dis­abil­i­ties to com­pete.

Karen works as Head of De­vel­op­ment for Planet Ice who are UK’s largest ice and leisure provider. This sum­mer, she will head up the Great Bri­tain (GB) Artis­tic In­line Skat­ing team who will com­pet­ing in the World Open 2019 com­pe­ti­tion in Italy.
