New route for tenth Moonlight Challenge
THE Moonlight Challenge will follow a new 25-kilometre route this year as the popular fundraiser celebrates its tenth anniversary.
Registration for the challenge, which is the main fundraising event of the year for the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team, will open next month.
This year’s challenge will start at Glendalough House in Annamoe and head along the Wicklow Way, taking in Brusher Gap, Paddock Hill, Brockagh Forest and Glendalough.
From Glendalough, participants will continue along a section of St Kevin’s Way, past Poulanass Waterfall and up Trooperstown Hill.
The finish will be at the mountain rescue team’s base in the Glen of Imaal, where some hot food and drinks will be awaiting everyone.
Shuttle buses will be provided to ferry participants back to the car park beside the starting point.
The Moonlight Challenge takes place on November 9 and registrations will be taken from August 23.
