Wicklow People (West Edition) - - COMMUNITY NEWS -

Hacketstown will hold its annual music festival to celebrate the ‘King’s’ connection to the town on Sunday, July 28, from 12.30 p.m. This promises, as always, to be a day for all the family with live performers such as popular country singer Bernie Heaney and Anthony ‘Elvis’ Farrelly (previous winner of the Elvis Impersonators competition). There will also be lots of street entertainment with jugglers, fire eaters and a mini-circus. Jiving with Emma will have you shaking your hips. A vintage car display, a falcon display, finger-licking-good treats from the Barbecue Cowboys and a party atmosphere, will all be the order of the day. Everyone is very welcome to come along and get all shook up with Hacketstown next Sunday.

The Elvis connection to Hacketstown was discovered a few years ago when an American genealogist made contact with a Carlow genealogist, Micheál Purcell. Micheál was later to visit America to verify the connection.
