Harmony Timber reveal new base at Avoca River Park
HARMONY Timber Solutions has announced that it has acquired a new permanent headquarters at the Avoca River Business Park in Arklow.
The full agreement between Harmony Timber Solutions and Echelon Data Centres, which owns the site, has not been made public. However, the deal will see Harmony Timber Solutions buy part of the site where it will locate its new factory.
Garrett Dempsey, Group MD of Harmony Timber Solutions, said that they were pleased with the move.
‘We’ve been at Avoca River Park for around four years now, and it’s well-placed for our operation, in terms of transport links and employee travel times. The site also has the space we need to manage our current operations and develop the growing ‘off-site construction’ side of our business.
‘We’re pleased to have been able to conclude a deal with Echelon Data Centres that means we can continue to operate on the site for the longterm. It provides a welcome level of certainty to the 60 people who work here and the further twenty employees that we plan to hire by the end of the year. Our intention is to start work on the new factory sometime in mid-August.’
Graeme McWilliams, COO, Echelon Data Centres, said: ‘We are fully committed to Arklow and to our plans for the Avoca River Park, which would see the construction of a data centre with 100MW of capacity creating 450 jobs in construction and a further 90 permanent operational roles.
‘We’re happy to have been able to provide Harmony Timber Solutions with the opportunity of a permanent home on the site and we hope that they, and Holfeld Plastics, who are nearby, will be joined by other businesses in the future as the site develops and grows.’
