Authors off to ‘Write by the Sea’
TWO Wicklow writers will feature prominently at the Write by the Sea literary festival taking place at Kilmore Quay, Co Wexford, in September.
Greystones author Ruth Fitzmaurice rose to national prominence in 2017 following the publication of her best-selling memoir ‘I Found My Tribe’. The book told the story of Ruth’s life with her husband Simon as he battled Motor Neuron Disease. She will be interviewed about that book at Kilmore Quay by best-selling author Jackie Hayden who formerly lived in Bray.
Eleanor O’Reilly resides in Arklow close to where she grew up. She teaches English and has received several awards for her writing. At Write By The Sea she will talk to Eoghan Smith and Sue Leonard about her experience of getting her first novel ‘M for Mammy’ published.
Lucy Moore, Chair of Write By The Sea said: ‘It’s been said that one of the key reasons for the success of Write By The Sea, now in its fourth year, is that we attract a stimulating mix of local, national and international authors. So it’s very exciting to have such respected figures as Ruth Fitzmaurice and Eleanor O’Reilly in our programme for 2019.’
The festival runs from September 27 to 29 and other key contributors already confirmed include Kit de Waal, Theo Dorgan, Dermot Bolger, Paula Meehan, Mike McCormack, Derek Hand, Sinead Gleeson and Catherine Dunne.
