PARKING CASEIS DISMISSED

A MOTORIST accused of parking in a disabled bay had his case dismissed at a Bray District Court last Thursday.

John O’Brien, 5 Abbey Court, Wicklow town, faced a charge of parking his vehicle in a disabled parking space on Abbey Street, Wicklow town, on January 1, 2018 at 1.45 a.m.

In evidence, Mr O’Brien said he was the previous owner of the vehicle which had been sold to the son of a friend. He had handed over the registration book.

When Mr O’Brien received the fixed penalty notice, he brought it to his friend who agreed to pay.

Solicitor David Tarrant said a member of Mr O’Brien’s family was disabled and that the vehicle’s registration had since been rectified.

The inspector said it was accepted that the car was in the possession of Mr O’Brien’s friend but not registered at the time of the incident.

Judge David Kennedy dismissed the matter.
