THE members of Arklow United Racing Pigeon Club had their birds away at the Dungarvan race point for race number two on this season’s young bird race calendar.

The Coolroe lofts of Gary and Mark Doyle were the stars of the day as they shook off the rest of the field to time in a good brace to strike gold and register the loft’s first young bird success of the year, with the previous race winner Joe Maghery taking the lion’s share of the top ten places.

The premier prize winner recorded a velocity of 1,547.38 for over 73 miles and is provisionally placed first in Section B from an entry of over 2,000 birds. This weekend Pilmore Beach near Youghal Co Cork provides the release site for our third race. The results were first, second Gary and Mark Doyle; third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, Joe Maghery; ninth Tony and Sylvia Molloy; and tenth Tony Hobbs.
