Arklow host magical Mini World Cup
Over 250 children enjoy super event
TWO fun-filled weekends of soccer action took place at Arklow Town FC recently with their now famous annual Mini World Cup.
Over 250 children took part from under-6 level all the way up to under-14 level.
Such was the demand to take part in this year’s event, the club accommodated a competition for the under-14 players as well. This event has grown in popularity in recent years, and this year’s event attracted several participants from the neighbouring counties of Wexford and Dublin.
The event was kindly sponsored once again by Travers Insurance Ltd. This year their very generous sponsorship provided every player with a specially designed jersey to wear during the competition.
As usual, the club’s facilities were in top class condition for the two weekends. Nobody went hungry as the club’s shop and BBQ ensured there was ample food for all visitors and all tastes. Thanks must go to all the club volunteers who helped with the refereeing, stewarding and catering.
Special mention must go to Mary and Eamon Burke for supplying and sponsoring the trophies. All players received a lovely trophy for taking part, and a special award, the Maradona Trophy for player of the tournament, was presented to Kyal Byrne.
There was a feast of soccer over two weekends in Lamberton.
