Mountain Rescue cover provided at two events
IT was a busy weekend for Wicklow’s mountain rescue teams as they were deployed to cover the Bray Air Show and the Reek Sunday Pilgrimage held on Croagh Patrick.
Dublin and Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team were joined on Saturday and Sunday by An Garda Síochána, Order of Malta Ambulance Corps, Irish Coast Guard, and National Ambulance Service at the Bray Air Show.
The event was almost without incident and the teams only treated one patient.
On the other side of the country in County Mayo, the Reek Sunday pilgrimage took place on Croagh Patrick. Mountain rescue personnel from Wicklow worked alongside Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team, Mayo Mountain Rescue Team and all of the Mountain Rescue Ireland teams, Irish Cave Rescue Organisation, Police Service of Northern Ireland, and Order of Malta Ambulance Corps to provide medical and rescue cover for the event. The team treated a number of patients for minor injuries during their shift which lasted from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m.
