Veteran and vintage club picnic
THE Irish Veteran and Vintage Car Club picnic will take place at Powerscourt Gardens on Sunday, August 18, from 11 a.m. to 5p.m.
This is the 42nd year of the picnic, and entries are open to 150 vehicles.
Their owners can sign up at ivvcc. ie up until this Friday, August 9.
The event will take place in the beautiful walled garden at Powerscourt.
All cars must be in place at the site by 12.30 p.m. on the day of the picnic and show.
There will be a large marquee provided in the event of rain, so that picnickers can enjoy their lunch whatever the weather.
Dogs are not permitted in the walled garden or any of the Powerscourt inner gardens.
Voting slips will be provided so that entrants can choose their favourite cars in categories including: pre-war open tourer, pre-war saloon, post-war open tourer and post-war saloon, as well as the Jim Fitzgerald Perpetual Trophy for the best Ford.
The Slazenger Powerscourt Perpetual Trophy will be chosen by a representative of the Slazenger family for their favourite vehicle on the day.
Entrants are encouraged to dress in an outfit appropriate to the era of their car.
There will be a special prize, sponsored by Dublin Crystal, for the best dressed in period costume.
The Irish Veteran and Vintage Car Club Limited was formed in 1963 to cater for owners of veteran and vintage vehicles and for enthusiasts who did not possess such vehicles.
Cars are divided into the following classes: Antique, Pre-1905; Veteran, 1905-1918; Vintage, 1919-1930; Post-Vintage, 1931-1945; Classic, 1946-1984.
