Veteran and vin­tage club pic­nic

THE Ir­ish Veteran and Vin­tage Car Club pic­nic will take place at Pow­er­scourt Gardens on Sun­day, Au­gust 18, from 11 a.m. to 5p.m.

This is the 42nd year of the pic­nic, and en­tries are open to 150 ve­hi­cles.

Their own­ers can sign up at ivvcc. ie up un­til this Fri­day, Au­gust 9.

The event will take place in the beau­ti­ful walled gar­den at Pow­er­scourt.

All cars must be in place at the site by 12.30 p.m. on the day of the pic­nic and show.

There will be a large mar­quee pro­vided in the event of rain, so that pic­nick­ers can en­joy their lunch what­ever the weather.

Dogs are not per­mit­ted in the walled gar­den or any of the Pow­er­scourt in­ner gardens.

Vot­ing slips will be pro­vided so that en­trants can choose their favourite cars in cat­e­gories in­clud­ing: pre-war open tourer, pre-war saloon, post-war open tourer and post-war saloon, as well as the Jim Fitzger­ald Per­pet­ual Tro­phy for the best Ford.

The Slazenger Pow­er­scourt Per­pet­ual Tro­phy will be cho­sen by a rep­re­sen­ta­tive of the Slazenger fam­ily for their favourite ve­hi­cle on the day.

En­trants are en­cour­aged to dress in an out­fit ap­pro­pri­ate to the era of their car.

There will be a spe­cial prize, spon­sored by Dublin Crys­tal, for the best dressed in pe­riod cos­tume.

The Ir­ish Veteran and Vin­tage Car Club Lim­ited was formed in 1963 to cater for own­ers of veteran and vin­tage ve­hi­cles and for en­thu­si­asts who did not pos­sess such ve­hi­cles.

Cars are di­vided into the fol­low­ing classes: An­tique, Pre-1905; Veteran, 1905-1918; Vin­tage, 1919-1930; Post-Vin­tage, 1931-1945; Clas­sic, 1946-1984.
