‘Prolific’ treat for Arklow RNLI crew
KEEN SHIP spotters in Arklow enjoyed a sneak preview of one of the Tall Ships that arrived in Dublin at the weekend as they spent time in the harbour en route.
Captain Chris Rose of ‘Prolific’ had a special treat in store for some of Rnli Arklow’s crew and fundraising team. Captain Rose and some of his crew called to visit and view the Lifeboat Station and boat and they invited some of the Arklow crew aboard the magnificent tall ship for a cruise around the bay. The lucky Arklow crew were accorded the highest of hospitality with each member getting the opportunity to take command of ‘Prolific’ under Captain Rose’s watchful eye.
‘We all thoroughly enjoyed our tall ship cruise and it was great to see the hard work that goes into sailing a ship like this around the world,’said Tommy Nolan from Rnli Arklow’s fundraising team.
‘Sea safety was of paramount importance during our cruise with all of our team getting afull safety briefing prior to departure,’ added Mark Corocoran RNLI Sea Safety Advisor. ‘Prolific’ continued to the Tall Ships Festival the morning after the visit but will be back in Arklow in the third week of September en route to Gran Canaria.
