In­au­gu­ral Jackie Byrne cup win­ner

WICK­LOW Male Voice Choir held its an­nual golf clas­sic at Wick­low Golf Club and pre­sented the Jackie Byrne tro­phy af­ter­wards for the first time.

The tro­phy was do­nated to the choir by the fam­ily of the late Jackie Byrne and will be awarded to the win­ning team of each fu­ture golf clas­sic.

Jackie was a keen golfer from a very early age and was a ju­ve­nile mem­ber of Wick­low Golf Club. He went on to pur­sue a ca­reer as a grounds keeper at the fa­mous Went­worth Golf Club, where he re­mained un­til his un­timely pass­ing in 2016. Jackie’s fa­ther Jimmy is a lead­ing mem­ber of Wick­low Male Voice Choir.

At the pre­sen­ta­tion night held in the club­house af­ter the golf clas­sic, the chair­man of Wick­low Male Voice Choir Andy Bol­ger, thanked the Byrne fam­ily for the tro­phy and their very kind ges­ture.

The cap­tain of the win­ning team Paul Bar­ron also paid trib­ute to the Byrne fam­ily and said it was an hon­our to be the first re­cip­i­ents of such a mag­nif­i­cent tro­phy,
