A young person from Wicklow joined teenagers from India, the USA and Ireland at a youth conference in Maynooth.

Megan Muldowney, from Teen scene Dunlavin Foróige, was among the 250 teenagers at Foróige’s Leadership for Life Youth Conference.

During the week-long conference, the teenagers, aged between 15 and 18, learned skills such as empathy, decision making, communication, critical thinking and team-work.

Seán Campbell, CEO of Foróige, said ‘The Leadership for Life programme enables young people to develop the skills, inspiration, vision, confidence, and action plans to be effective leaders.

Delegates attending were nominated by youth workers and volunteer leaders from their own countries because they demonstrated an innate sense of justice, determination, passion and ability to lead and make positive changes in their own communities.

The programme included lectures from inspirational speakers, workshops and peer discussions on matters of global importance.
