Well we have to hand it to our community, for they showed up to our annual Men’s Shed open day on Saturday last to show a marvelous support to our members, in doing so they again purchased work done in our work shop such as flower planters, nesting boxes, and many novelty garden items, while touring our allotments, and game rooms etc, all in all a great show of appreciation by our community, so thank you one and all for your continued support.
To organise such a day we could not have done so without the following help, John Sinnott/ Farrelly bros. (meat), Hugh Kennedy (printing) John Hamilton (car park preparation) Parkview Hotel (barbecue) our shed president James Carroll for the use of his frontal property (tea, and toilets) and for his adjoining field for car parking. We also recognise the hard work carried out by members who serve the people of the community on the day, especially the washing up etc silently carried out by husband and wife team Anthony and Margaret Doyle, many thanks to you all.
All the members also wish a speedy return to health of members Tom and Mick, may your teacups, although cold at the moment, soon feel the warmth of that cherishing liquid which we all enjoy.

Heavy rain that fell over last weekend put paid to a number of our team’s games. Our under-nine and 10 teams did however see action despite a number of players been unavailable due to holidays.
Our under-9s played away to Greystones Red and they put in one of their best displays of the season on the day. Among the best players on the day for Newtown were Colin Healy, Conor Shevlin and Rory O’Gorman. Our under-10s travelled to Tullylusk to take on Avonmore FC and after a titanic battle they edged out the home side 5-4 in a nine goal thriller. Leon O’Connor helped himself to a hat trick while Alex Ryan and Nathan McMahon helped themselves to a goal each. On the day best for Newtown were Felix Geoghegan, Ryan McDonald and Lennon McGuinness.
