Well­ness event to be held in Ark­low

A new well­ness festival will kick off in Ark­low next Sun­day.

Re­lease Well­ness is a com­mu­nity-based event which will fea­ture lo­cal fit­ness and well­ness coaches in a show­case of what’s on of­fer in Ark­low. There will be 18 short demon­stra­tions on the day and par­tic­i­pants are be­ing ac­tively en­cour­aged to come along and take part. Demon­stra­tions will in­clude yoga, Brazil­ian jiu jitsu, tram­po­line fit­ness, boot camp and other well­ness ac­tiv­i­ties.

Speaking to the Wicklow Peo­ple, or­gan­iser Ais­ling Nolan said, ‘the demos are 15 to 20 min­utes long and the hope is that peo­ple will join in. There will also be stalls set up where peo­ple can speak with the fit­ness in­struc­tors and learn more.’

The show­case will take place on a grass area near the Duck Pond close to the skate park and run­ning track from 12 noon un­til 5 p.m. It’s a fam­ily friendly event and at­ten­dees are en­cour­aged to bring a yoga mat, water, sun cream, small towel and gym wear.

Ais­ling, who re­cently started to teach Pound in Ark­low, explained that the idea for the festival came from see­ing peo­ple’s re­ac­tion dur­ing the fit­ness class.

‘I thought it would be amaz­ing for peo­ple to come to­gether and see what is in Ark­low,’ Ais­ling added. She also thanked ev­ery­one who had helped with the prepa­ra­tions for the festival in­clud­ing her fami­ily, Cllr Peir Leonard, An­drew O’Harte, Blue­print Ark­low, Su­pervalu, Coral Leisure Cen­tre, the Ark­low Bay Ho­tel and vol­un­teers for their sup­port.
