First pop up Gaeltacht evening in Arklow
ARKLOW will play host to its first ever pop-up Gaeltacht on Saturday, August 31. The event will bring Irish speakers of every level together in the upstairs of The Gin Mill from 8 p.m.
The idea of a pop up Gaeltacht is to have a group of people to the relaxed environment of a pub where they can have conversations in Irish, whatever their level of proficiency or confidence with the language. Pop up Gaeltacht events run in Dublin city, where they have proven to be popular.
‘It’s a mobile Gaeltacht. Upstairs [at The Gin Mill], there will be a congregation of people speaking Irish in a pub,’ said Aoife Ní Chéileachair.
The event is a collaboration between Glór na nGael An Inbhir Mhóir and Gaelcholaiste na Mara. Past students are encouraged to attend and all are welcome.
