FOOTBALL CLUB NOTES
Our Junior team was first in action last week when they played Blessington away 0n Thursday. It didn’t look well before the game when Part Flynn failed a fitness test, James Eager was sick and bill Flynn got stuck in traffic. Nikki Donovan moved to mid field and was doing well when he got a leg injury and went off. We were lucky Kevin Kealy was home on holidays and had no problem stepping up to the mark. We introduced new man, Nikki O’Neill and he scored two points. Ed Flynn was our top scorer with 1-4.His goal was a peach. In the third minute, a high ball from Midfield dropping down in the goal area, Ed just reached up and tapped the ball behind the goalie. This was the start we badly needed and we never looked back. Our team was: Enda Walshe, Rory Hankin, Brendan Daly, Gavin Walshe (1-0 Dean Flynn, Colm Toomey, Ronan Conron, Rory Toomey, Nikki Donovan Dean Mann (0-1) Tommy Dwyer (0-3) Shane Eager (0-1) Gerry Daly, Ed Flynn (1-3) Colm O’Neill, Subs were: Kevin Kealy and Nikki O’Neil (0-2).
Our Junior team will play St Pat’s, Wicklow Town in Donard on Thursday next.
Our senior camogie team beat Glenealy in their first game in the championship. This game started at 7.30 in continuous rain and we were lucky we had lights as they were on for the full game. They will play Avondale at home on Tuesday next.
Our Division 2 team played Dunlavin in Hollywood on Saturday in the championship. This was a crucial game for our lads. Sadly after a good first half played into a stiff breeze, the second half, with the wind in their backs, was a disappointment. They lost 1-12 to 1-9. It is a fight for survival in Division 2 for the rest of the campaign.
There was no lotto winner last week. Emma Healy, Anthony Allen and Aidaoine Flynn matched three and won €67 each. The jackpot is now €9,300. Tommy Dwyer won the seller’s prize.
