The fol­low­ing are the walks for the next two weeks for Ti­na­hely walk­ing club. Septem­ber 1: An­nagh Hill. Level B, 9km, 2.5 hours. Meet Ti­na­hely 10.15 a.m. or the Gap 10.30 a.m. Septem­ber 8: To be con­firmed.

As usual, please re­mem­ber to wear proper walk­ing boots, pack full rain gear and bring ad­e­quate food and drink. Please check Ti­na­hely Walk­ing Club Face­book page for any changes to the sched­uled walks.


This is a gen­tle ex­er­cise class for se­niors at Carnew Com­mu­nity Care – eight classes from Tues­day, Septem­ber 10, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. – aim­ing to im­prove flex­i­bil­ity, strength and mo­bil­ity. Chair yoga can also help pro­mote bal­ance, co-or­di­na­tion and im­prove over­all health and well-be­ing. €8 per class or €60 for eight. This class will take place at Carnew Com­mu­nity Care – eight classes from Tues­day, Septem­ber 10, 11.15 a.m. to 12.15 p.m. – com­pris­ing of gen­tle yoga stretch­ing move­ments syn­chro­nised with the breath which pro­motes mind­ful aware­ness and re­duces stress. The pace is gen­tle and pos­tures are mod­i­fied. Gen­tle yoga in­creases flex­i­bil­ity and strength­ens mus­cles and bones while im­prov­ing pos­ture. €8 per class.

As and from Au­gust 31/ Septem­ber 1 Mass times in Askamore will be on Sun­day at 11 a.m., in Kil­rush at 6 p.m. on Satur­day evening and Sun­day morn­ing at 10 a.m.


Kil­rush par­ish are hold­ing a par­ish raf­fle on Sun­day, Septem­ber 8, first prize €500, sec­ond €150, third case of wine, fourth ham­per box of good­ies, fifth Bean and Goose choco­late ham­per, sixth bot­tle of brandy, sev­enth bot­tle of whiskey and lots more prizes, €5 per line or full card €50, all sup­port wel­come.


Carnew Her­itage club are busy pre­par­ing for the an­nual Fest from Septem­ber 13 to Septem­ber 15 with the Teenage disco and car­ni­val on Fri­day the 13th, gates open at 8 p.m., con­tin­u­ing till mid­night, ad­mis­sion €15.

On Satur­day the 14th and Sun­day the 15th we have Barry Kir­wan, Lee Matthews, Derek Ryan, Take five, Teresa and the Stars, Adrian Ryan, danc­ing with De­clan, Sun­day is the usual her­itage day with vin­tage, David Browne’s, cars, stalls, games and much more.

A week­end ticket is €30, and can be pur­chased from Clas­sic Cut, Vic­tor Young’s, any of the Her­itage com­mit­tee or the GAA club. Pro­ceeds to­wards Carnew Com­mu­nity Care, St Ai­dan’s Cen­tre, Gorey and friends of lo­cal peo­ple with MS.


The an­nual cof­fee day will be held on Thurs­day, Septem­ber 19, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. in Ail­ish Lit­tle’s house Don­ishal, all wel­come to come along, money raised lo­cally stays lo­cal.
