Celebrating 160 years of St Mary’s Church: This September will be a very special occasion for St Mary’s Church, Enniskerry as it celebrates 160 years. Plans for this occasion are well under way with a number of events planned including a history talk by Michael Seery on Friday the 20th entitled ‘Fr Thomas O’Dwyer and the building of his church at Enniskerry’, a Flower Festival and a special Family Mass to be held on Sunday, September 22.

Meetings of the Enniskerry History Society, which meets under the guidance of its president John Callan, are scheduled to resume on Thursday, October 10, in the autumn.
In the meantime events two events taking place today (Wednesday) which may be of interest to members and supporters are a free ‘summer Public Tour’ at 2 p.m. in the Museum of Decorative Arts and History, Collins Barracks, Dublin seven, during which attendees will learn about the history of Collins Barracks, from the 1700s to the present day and its transition from Barracks to Museum, taking in some of the highlights from the Museum’s military history or decorative arts exhibitions. Admission free, places allocated on a first-come basis 15 minutes before the tour starts; and as part of the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council summer of Heritage, Rob Goodbody will present his talk ‘Booterstown, the town of the Road’ at 7 p.m. in Marlay House, Marlay Park, Rathfarnham, Co. Some of the material from the ‘F. M. O’Flanagan: Recorder of Dalkey’ exhibition held in the Lexicon earlier this year, based on his recently donated extensive archive materials, will be on display in Dalkey Library till this Saturday.
