They also performed two shows at the SoundSport International Music Festival which takes place alongside the Drum Corps International event.

The Arklow band competed alongside teams from the United States, Canada, Costa Rica and Columbia. The Inbhear Mór Performance Ensemble’s show was very well-received and they placed seventh out of the 12 units in their class, scoring an impressive 84.00 which earned the group a silver rating.

The competition was considered to be a resounding success for the ensemble who earned a host of new fans across the pond. The Inbhear Mór Ensemble were also presented with a special recognition award from Drum Corp International for Outstanding Performance. This was to recognise the achievement of being the first Irish Drum Corps to perform at the event.

At the end of the tour, the group had two free days to explore the city of Chicago before returning home.

Speaking to the Wicklow People, the ensemble’s manager Oisin Molloy said, ‘it was great. Once it was done, we wanted to do it again. The trip went really well. Our musicians learnt so much from the experience.’

The band played to audiences numbering in the thousands during their time in the United States. The Inbhear Mór Performance Ensemble expressed their sincere thanks to the local businesses and people of Arklow for their great support for this tour.
