School welcomes first year students
On Monday, August 26, Scoil Chonglais welcomed 96 first year students through its doors.
The Principal Ms Gurhy and the first year, Year Head Mr Dolan addressed the students giving them an overview of life in secondary school.
The four classes were then introduced to their class tutors who worked with the students to familiarise them with their new timetables for the year ahead. At morning break the students enjoyed a snack in the school canteen, socialising with familiar faces and some new ones too.
The following workshops were organised for the remainder of the morning; Effective use of the school Journal (Ms Gaskin), Wellbeing (Mr Dolan), Study Skills (Mr McMullin) followed by sixth year Meitheal student leaders taking the students on a tour of the school. The Meitheal student team also facilitated some fun games to help the first years in getting to know each other and to settle in to their new school environment.
