Newtown United cel­e­brate a su­per sea­son

A great night been had by all at the re­cent Newtown FC awrads night at the Parkview Ho­tel in New­town­moun­tkennedy.

A mas­sive con­grat­u­la­tions to all the award win­ners on the night as the club re­flected on a won­der­ful sea­son for the Mag­pies.

Club stal­wart Trevor O’Brien picked up the merit award in recog­ni­tion for man­ag­ing the Os­car Traynor team last sea­son.

The club’s Ap­pre­ci­a­tion award went to Ni­cole Franey for her amaz­ing be­hind-the-scenes help for the Newtown club.

Ken Turned was voted as the young player of the year while the Play­ers’ Player of the Year award went to the ir­re­press­ible cur­rent Wick­low League player of the year PJ Dowl­ing af­ter an out­stand­ing sea­son.

Newtown leg­end Gary Kelly picked up the Club­man of the Year award for an­other self­less and ded­i­cated sea­son.

Fi­nally, af­ter a busy night, the Bren­dan Hef­fer­nan award went to a spe­cial man on the night and that was Bren­dan’s brother, John Hef­fer­nan Snr.

All in at­ten­dance rose to their feet as ‘Heffo’ took the proud walk to re­ceive this ac­co­lade.
