AN evening to promote local clubs and organisations held in Baltinglass was considered to be a great success.

The information and recruitment night took place in Germaines, Inishfail on Monday, September 2. Around 32 different groups from the wider Baltinglass area were involved with the event, which was an opportunity for local organisations to meet people interested in becoming volunteers or becoming involved in their work.

Groups including the GAA, the Scouts and the West Wicklow Historical Society were present on the night to outline what they have to offer and how anyone interested could become involved.

There was a wide variety of organisations present showcasing a selection of what is on offer in the Baltinglass area and hoping to recruit new members. A steady flow of members of the public took the opportunity to inform themselves about the many activities on offer in the Baltinglass and the surrounding area. Visitors could also learn what is involved in a particular organisation and how to join or volunteer if they wished to become involved.

It was considered to be a success and it is hoped other communities may replicate the event to connect locaal groups with possible volunteers.

Organisers thanked Germaines of Baltinglass for the use of the hall and for their support of the event.
