A Wicklow teenager has wowed audiences with his sheep commentating skills during an appearance on RTE’s Ray D’Arcy Show.

Sean Dunne (13) and dad Tom were guests on the talk show last Saturday.

The first year student in Avondale Community College is a sheep shearing commentator and became one of the stars of this year’s National Ploughing Championships.

Speaking to Ray, Sean said he had ‘started commentating two years ago’, but had been practicing since he was ‘six or seven years old’. Sean also spoke about meeting Ivan Scott, the world’s leading sheep shearer.

Proud dad Tom said shearing is a ‘real passion in our house’.

A champion in the field of commentating on sheep shearing, some have compared Sean’s commentating skills to those of the legendary Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh. On the night Sean commentated on sheep shearing by Kevin Burke from Kildare, Johnny Patterson from Donegal and George Graham of Wexford receiving a great response from the audience. Later, father and son introduced Ray and Coronation Street star Kym Marsh to Ciara the psychic sheep. Ciara chose to eat from a bucket with the Irish flag and correctly predicted Ireland’s victory in the rugby against Scotland on Sunday.
