Clan na Gael cel­e­brate their su­per sea­son in style

Wicklow People (West Edition) - - SPORT - CLAN NA GAEL Awards Night

CLAN NA GAEL LGFA held their an­nual awards last Fri­day in Kil­macanogue GAA Club. Clan na Gael, an amal­ga­ma­tion of Kil­mac and En­niskerry GAA, is now in their third year of pro­vid­ing foot­ball for ladies across all age groups start­ing at un­der-12s right up to the se­nior team.

There was a great turnout on the night, a num­ber of awards were given out in­clud­ing Wex­ford Hurl­ing cap­tain Matthew O’Han­lon ac­com­pa­nied by Wick­low and Clan na Gael player, Tara Costello, pre­sent­ing the un­der-12 team with their medals af­ter win­ning the Di­vi­sion 3 league.

Dur­ing the 2019 sea­son, the ladies team re­ceived the sad news of the tragic pass­ing of their for­mer team­mate Priscilla Fo­ley.

Team­mate and friend Naomi Kier­nan spoke of Priscilla on the night, be­fore Shauna Kearns was pre­sented with the Priscilla Fo­ley Se­nior Player of the Year shield for 2019.

It was a dou­ble win for the Carr twins who were named as U23 Player of the Year jointly.

The Player’s Player of the Year was a tight con­test with Shauna Kearns com­ing out on top again tak­ing home both much de­served awards af­ter a great sea­son. The girls would also like to thank Josie Kir­wan, Priscilla’s mother for at­tend­ing on the night on what the club hope to now be­come a long run­ning an­nual awards cer­e­mony.
