St Kevin’s Community College
St Kevin’s open evening takes place on Thursday, October 3, at 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. We would like to extend an invitation to all prospective students and their parents/guardians to attend. Come and see our state-of-the-art facilities and meet our excellent staff and students. It will be a great opportunity to experience the caring and collaborative community that symbolises the atmosphere in our school.
CLIMATE DAY OF ACTION
Last Friday our TY students participated in ‘a day of action’ to run in collaboration with the Active Student Strike in Dublin to motivate the government to prioritise Climate Change.
Some of our TY students carried out a litter pick and energy sweep where they went around the school and pitch areas collecting and sorting any litter with others turning off light switches and sockets that were not being used properly. The students also went into classrooms to remind students to do the same at home and to raise awareness of this.
There was also a host of other activities for our junior school students such as a Kahoot table quiz, a fact hunt and a ‘Pin the Bin’ activity. Our Green Schools team meet every Tuesday at 1.30 p.m. in room six and we actively encourage students to join.
DESK TO A MILE
On Wednesday our school community came together to take part in the Desk to a Mile Challenge, a day when our teachers and students step away from our desks and run/jog/walk a mile. It was a fantastic day for the whole school community to join together and support each other in completing our miles.
We also had a sports challenge where our students and teachers participated in all manner of events from sack races, long kick competitions, egg and spoon races, relays, sprint races, etc.
All those that participated on the day were treated to ice cream. It was a great day of Wellbeing and we look forward to the event being held again next year.
