Aughrim An­nacurra Com­mu­nity Games will hold their AGM on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 9, in Aughrim Sports com­plex at 8.30 p.m. We are al­ways de­lighted to see new faces not to come on any com­mit­tees but to lis­ten and hear what we are all about. We have on av­er­age over 80 chil­dren tak­ing part in var­i­ous ac­tiv­i­ties of Com­mu­nity Games. Please fol­low our FB page. To keep the games go­ing we al­ways need sup­port and new vol­un­teers. Look for­ward to see­ing you.


Learn gen­tle flow­ing heal­ing move­ments that re­lieve stress, im­prove flex­i­bil­ity and mo­bil­ity. Tai Chi and Qi Gong Classes are com­menc­ing on Wed­nes­day evening, Septem­ber 4, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Aughrim Sports and Leisure Com­plex. The cost is €80 for a block of eight classes. A night truck run will be held on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 5, at 7 p.m. This run is a fundraiser for Lau­ralynn Chil­dren’s Hospice. Reg­is­tra­tion is from 3 p.m. in the Com­mu­nity Field, Aughrim. The run will leave the Com­mu­nity Field at 7 p.m. and will go through the vil­lage, then pro­ceed to Ark­low, Gorey, Carnew and back to Aughrim. This is for a very good cause and we hope peo­ple will come out to see the trucks and do­nate to the bucket col­lec­tion.

There may be some traf­fic de­lays while truck run is go­ing through and park­ing re­stric­tions will also be in place be­tween 6.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. There may be some park­ing re­stric­tions on the Red­nagh Road dur­ing the af­ter­noon. A raf­fle will be held in O’Toole’s Pub on the night of the run.

Tick­ets for the raf­fle are avail­able in Byrne’s Londis, in the field on the day of the run, in O’Toole’s pub on the night or by con­tact­ing De­nis New­some at 087 2387216.


From Oc­to­ber 2019, at the monthly meet­ings, there will be a book for sign­ing in and tak­ing subs. This is nec­es­sary for In­sur­ance pur­poses. The monthly sub will in­crease to €3. This goes to­wards buy­ing gifts for speak­ers, tea, ad­min­is­tra­tion costs, postage etc. Line Danc­ing has started on Fri­day morn­ings from 11 a.m. to mid­day We are mak­ing a list of mem­bers phone num­bers, if any­one is not happy to have their phone num­ber cir­cu­lated, please let us know.

Dunne’s farm an­nual thresh­ing and vin­tage day in aid of South Wick­low Hospice Home Care will take place this year on Sun­day Oc­to­ber13th at 1 p.m. at Muskeagh Ti­na­hely. (Y14W882). All types of vin­tage cars and trac­tors are wel­come. Danc­ing with Declan will be re­turn­ing again this year. Trac­tor pulling, dog show, auc­tion, raf­fle and many more side shows. A great fam­ily day out. Please come and sup­port.


The num­bers 6, 8, 20 and 25 were drawn in this week’s Aughrim Sports club lotto Septem­ber 23 the jack­pot was not won. There was no match three or jack­pot win­ner. The jack­pot is €2,100. The weekly lotto sup­ports Aughrim camo­gie club, Aughrim GAA club, Aughrim Rangers Soc­cer club and Aughrim sports com­plex. Peo­ple, who sup­port the weekly lotto are lend­ing sup­port to the lo­cal sports clubs who are very much part of the com­mu­nity.


The an­nual Thanks­giv­ing ser­vice will be held in Bal­li­na­tone Church on Sun­day next, Oc­to­ber 6, at 3 p.m. ev­ery­one will be very wel­come, re­fresh­ments served af­ter ser­vice.


A warm wel­come to all at Aughrim Town and Coun­try Mar­ket, Red­nagh Road, ev­ery Satur­day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. En­joy the buzz in the Pavil­ion Cafe as you catch up with friends over cof­fee and treats. De­li­cious brunches and light lunches are also on of­fer. Fresh lo­cal pro­duce avail­able, in­clud­ing or­ganic fruit and vegeta­bles, lo­cally pro­duced meat, eggs, pre­serves and fresh home baked bread and cakes.
