AC­TIVE RE­TIRE­MENT GROUP

AR are back in ac­tion with Christ­mas out­ings planned and their monthly lunches out. If you are feel­ing lonely com­ing into the win­ter or iso­lated and the weather is get­ting you down come and join the group, they hap­pily wel­come in mem­bers. The group meet most Tues­days, so if you fancy a chat, a cuppa and some light ex­er­cise, bowls, mu­sic come along on at 11 a.m., they wel­come any new­comer. The group meet for lunch once a month at var­i­ous venues. For fur­ther in­for­ma­tion, call Denise at the Brock­agh Cen­tre at 0404 45600 or drop in.

CHRIST­MAS MAR­KET

If you have un­wanted Christ­mas dec­o­ra­tions, the cen­tre will be happy to take them. Would you like to get your cre­ative ideas or skills show­cased at this year’s Brock­agh Re­source Cen­tre Christ­mas Mar­ket on De­cem­ber 15, cost­ing €25 per space. The cen­tre is tak­ing book­ings now for spa­ces. We are hop­ing some­one from the com­mu­nity will vol­un­teer for a main role in the Grotto with good com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills and a ‘hearty laugh’. MO­BILE LI­BRARY

The mo­bile li­brary vis­its Lyn­hams car park in Laragh ev­ery sec­ond Thurs­day from 12.15 to 12.50 p.m. The ser­vice has just got a new bus and hopes that this will be up and run­ning in time for its next visit to Laragh (sched­uled for Oc­to­ber 10). If you miss the bus on this date you can catch it again on Oc­to­ber 24.

The li­brary pro­vides free ac­cess to on­line data­bases in­clud­ing e-books, lan­guages, mag­a­zines, down­load­able au­dio books, news­pa­pers from across the world and more. To re­new or re­quest items or to ac­cess data­bases from your home PC, please phone 087 9135229 or go to wick­low.ie (first ask staff for PIN num­ber).

COUN­TRY MAR­KET/ CAR BOOT SALES

We have now moved to the sec­ond Sun­day of the month. En­cour­ag­ing lo­cal and non-lo­cal pro­duc­ers of plants, veg­eta­bles, crafts etc. Our next event will be on Sun­day, Oc­to­ber 13, open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bar­gains on prac­ti­cally any­thing from house­hold items to gar­den ad­di­tions, and even vin­tage or an­tique trea­sures. Vans must be booked in. Please pre-book in­door spa­ces early. Con­tact the Brock­agh Cen­tre at 0404 45600, email brock­agh­car­[email protected] if you wish to book an in­door space or if you pre­fer to sell out­side just show up at 8 a.m. on the morn­ing.

LARAGH PLAY­GROUND

It is great to see the play­ground so busy with par­ents and chil­dren all en­joy­ing the fa­cil­ity. We would like to be able to keep the area clean for chil­dren and min­ders. Please re­mem­ber, there­fore, that dogs are not al­lowed into the play­ground area and that smok­ing is not per­mit­ted inside it.

JU­VE­NILE GAA

Train­ing will be inside the Brock­agh Re­source Cen­tre’s hall, start­ing on Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 11, Call Ray at 087 8511934.

HAPPY DAYS

Tues­days morn­ings 10.30 – mid­day at the Brock­agh Cen­tre is for par­ents/guardians, ba­bies and tod­dlers who get to­gether a chat and play. It is a great chance make new friends and share ideas. Con­tact us at 0404 45600 at the cen­tre for more in­for­ma­tion.

TAE KWON-DO

Chil­dren, teens and adults will en­joy Taek­won-Do, a Ko­rean art of self-de­fence.

Classes are on Tues­days at 7.45 p.m. to 8.45 p.m. (se­niors and teens) in the Brock­agh Re­source Cen­tre, Laragh. Chil­dren’s classes are on Tues­days at 6 p.m. to 6.45 p.m. (4-7 years), 6.45 p.m. to 7.45 p.m. (8-12 years).
