Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Mrs Annie Doyle née Brooke’s, The Yew Tree, Shillelagh, who died recently and was buried in Clonegal cemetery.
To the family and relatives of Fr Barry Ffrench, Ballymoney and formerly of Rosslare and the diocese of Westminster London, who died last week, his remains were removed to Askamore on Thursday evening and Mass took place at midday on Friday followed by cremation.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS APPEAL
Reminder to please return your Christmas Lights Donation Envelope to Carnew Training and Development Centre as soon as you can. We will appreciate any donation, however big or small. The main thing is that everyone knows that we have to raise money to light up the street for Christmas, unfortunately we are only starting out again and we need a lot of money to replace the old stock of lights – bit by bit we can get there but it is going to take time and money. Thank you for your support.
We hope you can join us for our next fundraiser which will be an ‘Afternoon Tea’ on October 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Main Street – watch out for posters closer to the event.
COOLBOY COMMUNITY FIELD AGM
Coolboy Community field will hold their AGM on Sunday, October 20, at 7 p.m. in the parish hall, all welcome.
Carnew annual ploughing match will be held on Saturday, October 12, in Coolboy on lands kindly sponsored by Kevin Doran, to enter contact Kevin at 087 6732437.
There will be a cookery demonstration in aid of St Aidan’s Services by Michelin star chef Derry Clarke at Seafield Hotel, Gorey on Thursday, October 10, at 8 p.m.
Derry will be joined by local head chefs Ramen Kumar of Seafield. Val Murphy on the Ashdown. William Miller of the Amber Springs. Enter a draw to sit at the testing table for the dishes cooked on the night.
Raffle prizes include dinner for two in Derry’s L’Ecrivan Restaurant. Meal for two in the Rowan Tree Restaurant in the Ashdown. Dinner for two in the Seafield. A luxury hamper. The next bingo in St Bridget’s Hall, Carnew is on Sunday, October 6, and 20, all money raised will go towards the hall renovation fund, thanks to everyone for their support to date it is greatly appreciated.

The coffee dock in Askamore is now open on Monday to Friday morning from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., coffee/tea/hot chocolate and a biscuit €2, the state-of-the-art coffee machine takes €1 or €2 coins, self service. We have been asked to organise talks of interest for all ages, so if you have a topic you would like discussed please let us know. Why not meet your friends or family and have a cuppa and a chat.
A Christmas concert will take place in Kilrush Church on Friday, December 6, with music by Des Willoughby and the Celtic Brothers, admission €20, special offer for families.
The fit for anything group is very popular with people who may have health issues or want to take gentle exercise at their own pace. If you would like to take part come along on Wednesday mornings from 11.15 a.m. to 12.15 p.m. and stay for a cup of tea or coffee and a chat afterwards.
