HISTORY SOCIETY

Archaeolog­ist, author, and historian Chris Corlett was the guest speaker for last Thursday night's meeting of the Enniskerry History Society - which meets under the guidance of its President John Callan - at which he presented his lecture on ' The 18th Century Headstones of Wicklow Graveyards ' in the Powerscour­t Arms Hotel in the Village. Tonight (Wednesday) members of the Society have been invited to the 8pm lecture in the Kingston Hotel, Dun Laoghaire, to the Dun Laoghaire Borough Historical Society by Padraig Yeats recalling ' The I913 Lockout.' Tomorrow night (Thursday) members have been invited to Bray Cualann Society Historical Society's 8pm lecture by Kevin Meade on ' A Look Back in Time - The Bray & District Motor Cycle Club ' in the Bray Chamber of Commerce House, 10 Prince of Wales Tce, Quinsboro Road, Bray, and all welcome to attend. Rob Goodbody will be the guest speaker for the March 8th meeting at which he will present his lecture recalling ' Shankill evictions in the 1860's.' All welcome to attend this lecture which will take place at 8.30pm in the Powerscour­t Arms Hotel in the Village. All welcome. POWERSCOUR­T N.S.

Later this year Powerscour­t N.S. which dates back to 1808 will be moving to a new premises and this mark this momentous occasion it is proposed to publish a small booklets on this history of the school. Anyone with informatio­n is asked to forward to it any member of the Board of Management.

RACE NIGHT

A Fund Raising Race Night for the National School St.marys and Gerard will take place next month ,Posters are in many shops around the Village , Past pupils of all ages are invited to attend to help raise money for the pupils of to-day.

CARD GAMES

Enniskerry was always well known for its Card playing,now an effort to revive the great tradition is on the table, a novel idea of people gathering in small groups and deciding on their own games will start in a few weeks in The Hall on the Bray road on Friday nights , Small charge will help to look after Electricit­y and refreshmen­ts. WALKERS

The climate for the Enniskerry Walkers has been good so far and another walk has been arranged for next Saturday Walkers to meet outside of Windsors Spar at 1.30 pm.
