Bray reach final after peno drama

-

BRAY (Bray win 4-3 on penos) 0 PEMBROKE 0

ON SUNDAY Bray faced Pembroke for their semi-finals in their home grounds. Bray were the stronger of the two sides in the first half with excellent attacks on the right hand side by Tara Kelly, Jennifer O'neill and Eimear Willis.

Bray were very unlucky not to take the lead early on when an excellent pass by Erin O'sullivan found Rachel Maguire who just missed the goal.

The Bray backline Cheryl Cox, Mairead Mahon and Aoife Mulford continued to clear the Bray lines and keep the Pembroke team from shooting. Good work in the centre of the park from Jane Farrell and Sinead Duffy kept the attacks going.

Pembroke settled in the second half and attacked the Bray goal more but excellent clearances from Dianna Dunne kept the Bray side in it. The defence short corner team was superb in clearing the dangerous balls from the circle. At the final whistle the scores remained at 0-0.

The next step was fifteen minutes extra time which failed to separate the teams and so the match came down to penalty flicks.

The Bray penalty flicks were taken by Erin O'sullivan, Cheryl Cox, Rachel Maguire, Sinead Duffy and Jennifer O'neill but special mention must go to Bray goalkeeper Danielle Doyle who not only had an outstanding weekend but saved Pembroke's final penalty flick which saw Bray through to the Leinster League Cup Final to be played on the 15th of April.

Thanks also to the Bray Supporters who came out in great numbers to cheer on the team on Sunday.
