Kube victor donates his prize to U-13s
THERE was plenty of drama on Saturday night as Wicklow and District Schoolboys/Girls League presented The Kube, based on the concept of the popular TV gameshow, in the Parkview Hotel.
Contestants were set tasks that tested their physical ability, mental ability, intelligence, and responsiveness.
MC for the night was John Butterly who kept the large crowd entertained and also ensured proceedings ran as smoothly as possible on the night. The official time keeper was Tony Doran.
The main winner was Paul Lennon of the Wicklow Advertiser, who generously donated his €1,000 winnings to the Under-13 county team.
A special kids round was won by Luke Fitzpatrick of Ashford Rovers, who received a round of 4 ball footie golf as his prize.
The main raffle prize was Electric Picnic tickets, valued at €500, which were won by Hannah Martin, the Captain of the Under-12 Girls Academy.
Other raffle prizes included golf for two at the European Golf Club valued at €450, three Subway meal deal vouchers, a three course dinner for two in the Parkview, a Skoda gift bag, lunch for two at the Lighthouse in Wicklow town and two tickets to watch Mac Fleetwood perform.
Paul Hamilton, one of the organisers of the event, was delighted with how it all went.
‘It was great to see all the clubs get together. It was a great night and I think everyone enjoyed it. There was a brilliant turnout and there was a real great sense of community spirit.’
