Briefing seminar on new general data protection rules and Brexit

-

A FINANCING briefing breakfast seminar will take place later this month, where the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) will be among the topics up for discussion.

The free seminar, which is being run by the local Bank of Ireland in association with LEO Wicklow and Wicklow Town and District Chamber of Commerce, will also examine the SBCI Brexit Loan Scheme.

The seminar will take place in the Grand Hotel at 7.30 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, with a light breakfast served from 7.15 a.m.

GDPR comes into force on May 25 and places new obligations on the shoulders of organisations and businesses that collect personal data on how that data is collected and processed. GDPR will require all businesses to review their policies, procedures, contacts, processing activities and IT to assess compliance.

This practical discussion, facilitated by industry expert Ruth Hallinan of DPSolutions, will look at the key changes to the law under GDPR and provide guidance on what companies should do now in order to prepare.

The Government has also launched a €300 million Brexit loan scheme to support businesses that are required to innovate in order to respond to the challenges that Brexit poses. This scheme is of interest to all businesses who import or export direct to the UK and Northern Ireland, as well as those indirectly exposed to the UK through links with other companies. The terms of the scheme, who it is aimed at and how to apply will be outlined at the seminar.

Anyone interested in attending should contact Wicklow Town and District Chamber at info@ wicklowchamber.ie or 0404 66433.
