Arrest made after erratic driving call

GARDAÍ in Arklow arrested a man on suspicion of drunken driving following a report to the garda station in the early hours of Friday morning.

A member of the public reported a car driving erratically in a residential area on the north side of the town shortly after 1 a.m.

The driver initially failed to stop for gardaí but a short time later did so and was arrested. He was later charged with drunken driving and bailed to appear at the district court in the coming weeks.

Gardaí are investigating if a case of criminal damage to a shop front in the town centre is connected to this incident.
