Lying on ground

-

AN Arklow man found by gardaí lying drunk on the ground shouting his head off at 5 a.m. appeared before Gorey District Court last Wednesday charged with being intoxicated in public. Paul Dalton (36) of 5 Hudson’s Square, Arklow, pleaded guilty.

Gardaí heard that on the night in question, he was found lying on the ground shouting. He had grazing to his head at the time and resisted arrest. A fixed penalty notice was issued, but not paid.

Solicitor David Tarrant said that his client does succumb to drink from time to time, but is trying to turn his life around and was ‘looking the best I’ve seen him for a long time’. Upon hearing all the evidence, Judge Gerard Haughton handed down a fine of €150.
