RUN THE ROCK
Run the Rock 2018 will take place on Saturday, June 2, at11 a.m. This event is in its sixth year and is now established as one of Aughrim GAA Club’s key fundraisers. This event has grown in popularity year on year and has been very well supported by our local community and beyond.
This year there are new ‘Run the Rock’ medals for our 11k event which look great. The 3.5k family fun run is also very popular. Registration and race detail are at popupraces.ie.
Registration for 3.5K is on the day.
PARISH SALE
The Castlemacadam Parish Sale takes place in the Hartin Hall Avoca at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, with all the usual stalls: Cakes, Plants, bric-à-brac, tea, and raffle please support this Parish Fundraiser.
TAI CHI/CHI GONG
Learn gentle flowing healing movements that relieve stress, improve flexibility and mobility. Tai Chi and Qi Gong Classes every Wednesday evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday Mornings 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Aughrim Sports and Leisure Complex. Beginners Welcome. Cost €80 for a block of eight classes.

The numbers: 7, 8, 11 and 14 were drawn in the sports club lotto on Monday last, May 7, Match-three winners were Patty, Agnes, Jimmy and Kathleen, MJ Evesson, Leonard Carroll and Pat Bolger. The jackpot was not won. The jackpot is €3,000.

Two weeks ago both our teams played their games and both won. Our Division2 team beat Valleymount away and our Division 4 team beat Stratford at home. Last week they both played and lost. On Tuesday in Donard, our Division 2 lads were 2points up at the break but lost by five points to Stratford.
On Thursday our Division 4 team conceded four goals in as many minutes at the start of their game and lost by six points. (210) (0-10). Next Thursday they will play Koolkenno away. Last week’s team was ; C Toomey, G Walsh, B Daly, J Kelly, P Doyle, B Flynn,(0-1, S Eager, R Toomey, Dean Mann (0-3),J Eager,(0-1) N Donovan, L Mullen,(0-4) C O’Neill, P Flynn, G Daly (0-1), and K Mills.
Wicklow County Minor team lost their first round championship game against Offaly on Sunday last in Aughrim. Shane Daly was brought on in the second half and scored two points. Jack Grace sat it out in the dugout. On Wednesday week they will play Louth away. We hope our two lads will get more time away.
The jackpot is now €12,400. Last week Paula Kelly and Natasha Keogh matched three and won €200 each. O’Reilly’s Shop Baltinglass won the seller’s prize.

FESTIVAL OF ARTS
The next meeting will take place in Seomra in the Imaal Hall Saturday, May 18, at 12, 30. This year’s festival takes place on June 15 to June 17. The festival will be officially opened by popular horse trainer Jessica Harrington.

The Camphill Farm shop opens every Thursday in Grangebeg from 1 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. lots of fresh organic vegetables and eggs for sale.
LINE DANCING
Line Dancing continues in the Imaal Hal on Wednesdays from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at a cost of only €6. New beginners are welcome, so come along learn a new skill and join the craic.
CLINIC
Please keep your used postage stamps for St Patrick’s Missions, Kiltegan, who can use them to fundraise. Used stamps can be dropped into the parish office any time. Thank you to all who have donated stamps throughout the past year. The festival went down a treat last year but we need volunteers to do it all over again this year.
Workshops – Registration: This year we have a great selection of workshops and talks for all ages. If you would like to attend one of these workshops we are opening two registration weekends in the office of O’Neill and Flanagan on Main Street, Rathdrum. The office will be open from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, and 26 and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, and 27. Workshops are free but your donations are very welcome on the day. GAA ACTION
Well done and congratulations to Avondale players Eamonn Kearns and Saoirse Kearon both represented the club on the county stage over the weekend in two very good victories. Eamonn in hurling and Saoirse in Football. Well done, lads.
THURSDAY WALKS
Tinahely Community Sports Hall are holding their AGM on Monday the 21st at 8 p.m. in hall.
HOLY COW CHARITY WALK/RUN
On Sunday, May 20, 5km run/ walk and 10 mile timed run, starting and finishing at the iconic Dying Cow pub near Tinahely Co.Wicklow.
In aid of Mullinacuff church and the Jack and Jill Foundation. €15 entry for 10 mile run, €10 for 5km run/walk, €5 for students and kids go free. No bikes or dogs please. Registration from 1 p.m. 10 mile starts at 2 p.m. and 5km starts at 2.15 p.m.
Prizes for first three places in both races. €50 bonus for breaking records of 10mile for male/ female records. Prize for participant best dressed up.
PENTECOST SUNDAY
Come celebrate with us on Sunday, May 20, for a special Mass to mark the feast of Pentecost in St Kevin’s Church, Kilaveney at 11 a.m. Pentecost Sunday is a day of Special Prayer to celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit. On this special day we will also celebrate the presence of people in our parish of different nations and acknowledge our cultural diversity.
