A day of football and fun in Arklow
WDSL JAKO CUP FINALS AT CELTIC PARK
ARKLOW CELTIC played host to the WDSL Jako Cup finals last Saturday and what a marvelous day of football and fun it turned out to be.
Seven finals were played out over the course of the day with some wonderful football being played by all teams in beautiful sunshine.
The original schedule of nine finals suffered two withdrawals as teams struggled in the face of holidays and other commitments, but the seven finals that were fought for certainly didn’t disappoint the support that travelled for each decider.
The day ran smoothly with both teams from each final retiring to the comfortable yard to the side of the dressing room where speeches were made, cups lifted, and cheers cheered with gusto.
Huge credit to the organisers. Brian Kavanagh and Peter Porter were the men who made the presentations, with the referees, the runners up, the players of the matches, and the winning teams all getting something for their efforts on the day.
Visitors to Celtic Park were looked after superbly by the hard-working team of Arklow Celtic volunteers who manned the shop and kept an eye on proceedings throughout the day.
Congratulations to all the winners, commiserations to the losers and well done to everybody for making it a day to remember.
