Local projects to benefit from fund

THE Tesco Community Fund will be supporting a number of new local projects across Wicklow over the coming weeks.

Last week Tesco Ireland announced the 453 local projects that will participat­e in the new cycle of the Tesco Community Fund which got under way last week.

For the next eight weeks, customers are being encouraged to use their blue tokens in Tesco’s 151 stores to vote for their preferred local cause enabling them to make a big difference in communitie­s’ right across Ireland.

In Wicklow alone, the Tesco Community Fund has supported 360 local projects to date donating over €122,437.27.

For the next eight weeks Tesco’s stores across Wicklow will be using their blue token to support a wide range of local projects.

Shoppers in Tesco Arklow will be able to support Avoca National School, Bearna Chle National School and St. Michael and Peter Junior School

Tesco Bray and Tesco Bray Express will be supporting Gavin Glynn Foundation, Koins For Kids and Wicklow Down Syndrome

Tesco Greystones will be supporting Greystones CFR, Liberty Church Bray and Sporting Greystones Fc

Shoppers in Tesco Kilcoole Express will be able to support MSD Action Foundation/ Saving Dylan, Sporting Greystones FC and Sunbeam House

Tesco Wicklow will be supporting RNLI Lifeboats Wicklow, Wicklow Sub Aqua Club and Wicklow Town CFR

Christine Heffernan, corporate affairs director Tesco Ireland, said: ‘At Tesco we are delighted to be able to support such amazing local initiative­s through our Community Fund.

‘The Tesco Community Fund is open to a wide variety of good causes or groups so if you think you know a local organisati­on that could benefit from some extra funding, please nominate them in store today. Don’t forget to vote for your preferred cause each time you shop using your blue token, because it really does make a difference.’
