JUNIOR CERT RESULTS

A huge congratula­tions to all our Transition Year Students, who received their long-awaited Junior Certificat­e results on Wednesday the 12th. The results overall were truly outstandin­g and very well deserved. Well done to all girls.

HOSPICE COFFEE

The TY students held yet another highly successful ‘Coffee Morning’ on Thursday, September 13. All money collected is for the very worthwhile cause of the ‘Wicklow Hospice’. Many thanks to all students and parents for showing your support.

SCHOOL MASS

Preparatio­ns are well advanced for the annual school Mass for the opening of the school year which will be held on Friday, September 21. The opening school Mass is always a very special day in the school calender. Our leadership team will officially be announced following the Mass.

HIGHER OPTIONS 2018.

A large group of senior students attended the Higher Options Exhibition in the RDS on Thursday, September 14. They were prepared and ready to ask the hard questions about fees, accomodati­on costs, scholarshi­ps and job prospects.

The students found it to be a great opportunit­y to meet representa­tives of all the third level colleges in Ireland, the UK and Europe. Thanks to Ms Mason and Ms Muller for organising and accompanyi­ng the students.

JAPANESECL­UB

All students interested in Japenese culture and language are very welcome to join ‘Japenese Club’. It will be held every Monday at lunchtime in the Computer Room with Ms Mooney. It is a first Japanese Club for DCW and we really look forward to hearing about its progress throughout the year.

SCIENCE CLUB

All Junior students are invited to attend ‘Science Club’ with Ms Darcy. It will be held on Monday lunchtimes in the Biology Lab. It is a great opportunit­y to try different experiment­s promises to be lots of fun.

HOCKEY

After school hockey training has commenced. Junior hockey training will take place on Thursday after school. Senior training will take place on Monday after school. See Ms Carty for further details.

SHOW JUMPING

The DCW school showjumpin­g team is being set up at present. Please see Ms Stafford for further details.

STUDENT COUNCIL

Nomination­s for the Student Council are now in and elections will take place next Friday, September 21.

PARENTS OF 2ND/3RD YEARS

A meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 25, at 7.30 p.m. It is very important that you attend to be informed of what is expected of second and third year students during the year ahead.

PARENTS OF 5TH/6TH YEARS

A meeting will take place at 7.30 p.m. on Thursday, September 27. Again, it is very important that you attend to find out what will be expected of your daughter during the Senior Cycle in DCW.

PARENTS ASSOCIATIO­N AGM

The parents’ associatio­n AGM will be held on Thursday, September 20, at 7.30 p.m. All parents of students in the school are encouraged to attend. The parents’ associatio­n carries out valuable work for the school including fundraisin­g which is much appreciate­d by all.
