Fireworks and freezing temperatures outdoors did not deter any of our Hallowe’en party players. Once more they showed their amazing generosity in bringing a great variety of tricks and treats to the table. Their make-up and costumes were pretty amazing as well. All in all, a fun night had by all.

The cowboy, Shane Fagan, and his partner the wicked witch, Tricia Curtis, won the session. They took first place by a handsome margin from the two sisters Kay Murphy and Mary Kilcoyne. In third place were the husband and wife duo of Jennifer and Paddy Finnegan. The rest of the players were bewitched or bewildered by the interesting deals that were served up along with the organic vino, soft drinks, meringues, sausage rolls, cheese board, smoked salmon, crisps, cakes, buns etcetera. Early notice: the next party night is only seven weeks away on Wednesday, December 19. Bring it on!

Ignoring the notice that there would be no normal revision or beginners hour last week prior to the usual 7.30 p.m. start of the normal club competition, eight players turned up at 6.30 p.m. so there was an hour’s fun tuition session with two tables. Normal service resumes every Wednesday for a free hour at 6.30 p.m. for beginners, improvers or anyone else who feels like a bit of fun before the serious bridge session starts at 7.30 p.m. If you haven’t tried it yet there is no better time to come along to the Dominican Ecology Centre at 6.30 p.m.on a Wednesday evening free of charge.
