VALIANT ROVERS DEFEATED IN LIONS ALL-IRELAND FINAL
ALL GOOD things must come to an end and, sadly, that was the case for the Wicklow Rovers under-13 team whose unbeaten run in the All-Ireland Lions Clubs Competition ended on Sunday last.
However, the local club went down fighting in a fantastic display in the final at Dalymount Park.
Despite a wonderful performance against the top team in the country, Rovers were beaten 3-1 by Tullamore in a very entertaining game.
Wicklow Lions Club was delighted to see the team put in such a great effort in representing them and said they should feel ‘very proud’ of themselves in coming second in the country.
The Rovers under-13s received their medals from Bernard Black, Lions Vice-District Governor of Ireland, and were treated by the Lions to an afternoon of top class soccer in the Aviva Stadium, where they watched the FAI Cup Final.
