Lucky Wicklow folk win a combined €111,000 on TV
WICKLOW was on a Winning Streak on Saturday as three residents from the county appeared on the popular National Lottery gameshow on Saturday.
The biggest winner of the evening was Teresa Byrne from Aughrim who walked away with €58,000 in cash prizes including a holiday to Sorrento while Newtownmountkennedy resident Sharon King who played on behalf of her partner Noel McNulty won €33,000.
Bray woman Margaret O’Brien was thrilled to play on behalf of her young daughter Mary, whose name she put on the lucky ticket. She won €20,000 in prizes which she accepted in trust for her daughter.
Teresa is a well known face in the village of Aughrim where she and her husband Peter run the local Londis supermarket and post office.
Co-incidentally she was a guest at the National Lottery Good Causes Awards with her daughter Caoimhe when her ticket was drawn on the previous Saturday.
A call came through from her brotherin-law and there was great excitement at her table.
Teresa has been married to Peter for the past 48 years and the pair are proud parents to eight children, all of whom were in RTÉ studios on Saturday night to cheer their mother on.
Sharon King from Newtownmountkennedy, was visiting her son in Belfast when she got a call to say her that her partner, Noel McNulty’s (from Tallaght) name had come out for Winning Streak. Noel asked Sharon to go on the show for him and she proved to be a lucky charm for her husband as she walked away with a €33,000 prize.
Sharon, who has lived in Newtownmountkennedy for more than a decade, grew up in Clontarf and lived in Tallaght before moving out to Wicklow. She has two sons Neil and Ryan.
Noel supported Sharon from the audience along with a number of family and friends. He has promised to get Sharon a new car with her winnings following her successful appearance.
Bray woman Margaret O’Brien was thrilled to see her daughter Mary’s ticket pulled out. She always put her children’s names on Winning Streak tickets and Mary was the lucky charm. Margaret’s €20,000 win could not have come at a better time as in just four weeks her son Timmy will marry his fiancée Joanna.
