Principal sought for new school

- By MYLES BUCHANAN

EDUCATE Together has started the recruitment process for a principal for its new secondary school, due to open in Wicklow town next year.

The patronage process for the school was overseen by an external independent advisory group with Educate Together winning 59 per cent of the first patronage votes. The other applicant patrons were Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board, Le Chéile Schools Trust and Scoil Sinéad Limited.

The new secondary school is due to open in September of next year and will cater to 600 students, which could rise to 1,000 should there be such a demand.

Now Educate Together are on the hunt for a suitable school principal.

Niall Wall, school manager with Wicklow Educate Together Secondary School, said: ‘I’m delighted that we are now adding to the Wicklow ETSS team. We are looking for a strong principal – a visionary who is not just willing to educate but to help students to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to live their lives and to build their careers in the 21st century.’

Interested candidates should visit www.educatetogether.ie for more information.

Parents that signed up to the Wicklow Educate Together Secondary School campaign mailing list will be contacted with any updates on recruitment, accommodation and the admissions process.

Educate Together is also campaigning for patronage for a new national school to serve Newtownmountkennedy and Kilcoole through a similar online patronage process.
