A public information seminar will take place in the Brockagh Resource Centre to celebrate Wicklow’s latest heritage initiatives.

‘Our Wicklow: Sharing our stories’ takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 24. The day will be split into two sessions, with session one focusing on selection of recent projects from Wicklow, including exhibition, animation, film, digitisation and music. The aim is to showcase examples of creative ways of gathering and sharing information about Wicklow’s heritage.

Catherine Wright, Wicklow County Council Archivist, will provide an update on Wicklow archives and digitising collections. There will also be short-film screenings of ‘River Liffey Stories’ and ‘Blooming Bees’ and some sample projects supported under the Creative Wicklow programme.

There will be a short break from 11.15 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. followed by session two which will be hosted by Abarta Heritage, a company specialising in providing interpretation and visitor service solutions to communities, cultural sites and institutions. This event follows on from previous Wicklow Heritage seminars on the themes of ‘Community Archaeology’ and ‘Making Local History’. There will be scope for individual groups to host a stand to promote their activities.

This is a free event but advance booking would be appreciated for catering purposes. Anyone who would like to attend should email dburns@ wicklowcoco.ie or call Deirdre Burns, Heritage Officer, on (0404) 20100.
