Vintage day in memory of Liam Kenny raises €2,500 for charity
A SUCCESSFUL vintage run took place between Counties Wexford and Wicklow recently in memory of the late Liam ‘Tiny’ Kenny, Avoca.
A native of Ballinaclash who settled in Avoca, Liam sadly passed away from cancer two years ago and his family and friends wanted to hold a charity event in his memory.
Following his diagnosis, Liam and his family availed of the Rathdrum Cancer Support service which was of huge help and support to them.
It was after Liam’s death that they decided to organise a fundraising vintage run to raise funds for this important local service.
Vintage enthusiasts from far and wide gathered at The Gap, Ballythomas in Co Wexford for the event which was supported by Wicklow Vintage Club and The Gap Vintage Club.
Many of the participants knew some of Liam’s children who are also involved in vintage endeavours around Wicklow.
There was a great turnout and from registration fees and raffle ticket sales, the sum of €2,500 was raised which the organisers were delighted about.
They wish to extend thanks to everyone who took part in the vintage run and who supported the event in any way.
It is hoped that the fundraiser will become an annual event.
