O’ROURKE CONTINUES BUSY SCHEDULE AT COURTHOUSE

-

MUSIC and movie magic will be on the menu as the Courthouse Arts Centre serves up another slice of its autumn schedule.

Declan O’Rourke, one of Ireland’s finest singer-songwriters, will perform at the venue at 8.30 p.m. on Saturday, November 17. A performer of great subtlety and versatility, Declan is perfectly suited to this intimate venue, where he will perform a number of his well-known hits as well as songs from his new album ‘Chronicles of the Great Irish Famine’.

During a hugely-successful career, Declan has played for three Irish Presidents, and the King and Queen of Sweden. He has also appeared on two seasons of the popular music show Other Voices and season five of BBC’s Transatlantic Session alongside Alison Krauss and Amos Lee.

Tickets cost €25/€23 and are available from the courthouse.

Earlier in the week, the courthouse will continue its film season with a screening of Darkest Hour.

Starring Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill, the movie begins on the eve of World War II and takes a look at the early days of Churchill’s leadership of Great Britain, when he faces one of his most turbulent and defining trials: exploring a negotiated peace treaty with Nazi Germany or standing firm to fight for the ideals, liberty and freedom of a nation.

The screening begins at 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, and tickets, costing €6/€5, are available from the courthouse.
