Arklow girls shine on the Leinster team

-

TWO of Arklow’s up and coming young girls, Niamh Molloy and Amber Byrne, were impressive against a strong Connaught team in Castlerea last Saturday.

Niamh was Leinster’s first winner. Keeping the Connaught girl Mary McGillicudy at bay with solid left-right combinations Niamh never looked in trouble and was a clear 3-0 winner.

Amber’s contest was a test match with Grace Rowley and Amber dominated the bout so much that the referee counted the Connaught girl in the second round with a solid right to the chin and finished the final round with a fine combination.

Seven Arklow boys will back up the Leinster Girls team next weekend when they travel to Liverpool to take on a Liverpool regional selection on Saturday.

Arklow have two girls on the Leinster team, Niamh Molloy and Tegan Farrell, and Arklow’s Linda Morgan will travel as head coach of the team.

The boys are Owen Moore, Daniel Fox, Damien Abiloga, Daniel Feokrytov, Philip Feokrytov, Callum Roche and Donnacha Murphy. Some of the boxers parents are travelling to support the Arklow contingent.
