ST FERGAL’S MEN’S CHOIR CONCERT.
The St Fergal’s Men’s Choir will hold their annual concert on Sunday, November 25, at 7.30 p.m. which is used as a fundraising event for their parish, St Fergal’s in Ballywaltrim. The choir are great supporters of Kilmacanogue and we all can re call the wonderful concert they put on for us in our village for the Shane Vickers Trust.
This year the concert is a country themed singalong and they will have a selection of great country classics as well as some old favourites. If you like the music of Glen Campbell, Don Williams, Willie Nelson, The Carpenters, The Eagles and a whole host of other favourites, well then this is the place to be.
The concert will take place in St Anthony’s Room, adjoining St Fergal’s Church in Ballywaltrim and because this is a limited seating event, admission is by ticket only. Tickets are free and available from the St Fergal’s parish office or any member of St Fergal’s Men’s Choir or indeed people can contact Michael directly at 086 3647315. As this is a fundraising event, all attendees are invited to make a donation if they so wish to St Fergal’s Parish on the night of the concert. Best of luck to Michael and his wonderful choir for yet another successful and entertaining night.
MASS AND BLESSING
Kilmacanogue GAA Club hosted a wonderful coffee morning in aid of Bray Lakers last Friday from 9.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the new GAA Hall. Everyone is aware of the great work Bray Lakers do in the wider community and unfortunately earlier this month a fire destroyed their fleet of buses and badly damaged their facility but a very successful day raised €2,432 when coupled with the non-uniform day in Kilmacanogue National School which raised €550. The organisers would like to thank you all for the wonderful support.
SENIOR CITIZENS PARTY
The annual senior citizens Christmas party is drawing close and will once again take place in the Summerhill House Hotel on Sunday, December 9. Everyone involved with the senior citizens would like to wish Breda Connolly well in her recovery from a
The heavy rain that fell on Friday was the real winner last weekend as most matches were called off with only three games surviving. The under-eights travelled to Avonmore on Sunday morning. It must have been the long journey down that made them a little sleepy as they lost both opening matches but rallied in their second games to draw and win one.
The under-11s travelled to Greystones on a wet Saturday morning and played a thrilling 1-1 with their hosts. Aishling Meehan scored the goal so the teams must meet again this week.
The under-14s travelled to Rathnew in the shield. The first half was a tight affair and remained 0-0 at the break. Rathnew took an early lead and then the Glens had a player dismissed for an off the ball incident and this ruined the game as Rathnew stretched the lead to 4-0 before Oisin Kelly pulled one back but Rathnew added a fifth to run out deserving winners. It is winner takes all this weekend now as Wicklow Rovers and the Glens do battle for a place in the Shield Final against Rathnew, who are looking to complete a treble after winning the league and cup.
