Grand Slam

-

Despite Storm Diana blowing a gale many hardy players came down to the Dominican Ecology complex braving the wind and the rain to be rewarded by a fun night’s bridge. The club welcomed back Sr Jeanette Kiely from her trip to Australia to visit her sister. The clear winners on the night were Sr Marian O’Sullivan and Caroline Brown, who were 12 points ahead of their nearest rivals who were Margo Mulligan and Neville Caine. They in their turn were six points ahead of third placed couple Carol Wadden and Linda Walsh. This being the final competition in November before the Christmas countdown. Members are reminded that the traditional Christ-kindle night and end of year Christmas competition will be on Wednesday, December 19, at 7, 30 p.m. as usual.

Our usual free beginners hour of informal tuition at 6.30 p.m. prior to the usual 7.30 p.m. start of the normal club competition, continues to welcome new people. No need to book as it is very informal and relaxed. Just turn up to the Dominican Ecology Complex building on Kilmantin Hill in Wicklow at 6.30 p.m. No novices figured in any of the top six places unlike in the previous week.
